Meet the Stone Cabin Family

A family-owned business dedicated to fine architectural products.

Owners/Directors James and Valerie Gray came to Owen County, Indiana, 30 years ago. James left teaching after having taught in the Technology School at Purdue University and Industrial Design at Northern Illinois University. At that time he was working in alternative energy systems and passive solar architecture. James met Valerie when she returned from Puerto Rico where she was studying and working in Batik fabric design. Their mutual interest in fine design led them to marry, forming a company dedicated to fine architectural products, inside and out.

A Design/Build Corporation The initial contact with the client is made by James, who helps to define the project design program. Once the design work is prepared, Stone Cabin's job tracker develops the costing and finish schedule spread sheets with help from Valerie and the lead project foreman. With the construction drawings, finish schedules and specifications laid out, the project is ready to be handed to Stone Cabin's lead project supervisor. The scope of the project determines who of our four foremen will act as project supervisor.

Valerie assists our clients by helping with their "shopping" for goods and services needed for the project. Her broad experience in finding just the right materials, colors and textures is always appreciated. In addition, Valerie offers a wide knowledge of catalogue plumbing and lighting fixtures.
